MAKING A RUG (cont'd)
Before a rug can be made, the entire design
must be drawn so that the weaver has a pattern to follow.
The designer is a highly skilled artist who paints the pattern
on special scaled graph paper on which each square represents
one knot. Once completed, the pattern is placed on the loom
and the work of knotting the rug can begin. A designer works
on a floral pattern.
